Sustainability Aware is a series of educational apps made to inform and engage kids about our environment and our impacts on the Earth. Powering Our Planet focuses on where energy comes from, the impact of our energy use and more sustainable practices.

In this app we’ll learn about:
• what energy is
• different types of energy
• non-renewable energy and fossil fuels
• electric energy and how we get electricity
• how power stations work
• the environmental effects of our energy use, including environmental disasters.

We’ll then explore renewable energy options, including:
• solar energy
• wind energy
• geothermal energy
• hydropower
• biomass.

We will also find out about the option of nuclear energy.
Then we’ll dive into some of the sustainable choices we can make about energy use in our everyday lives.

Reading level: Approximately 9–11 years old, Australian middle to upper primary school level. Suitable for guided reading and classroom use.
